Introduction

Here at PaperDemon.com we have a special section specifically designed for handling sequential art of both small and large sizes. Because our system is so flexible it can be a little bit complicated to submit comics so this guide was created to help you get started submitting comics. Here you will find step by step instructions on how to correctly submit comics here at PaperDemon.com

Getting Started

Before going through the submission process, be sure you have some cover artwork ready for your comic. Just like with a comic book, you need some cover artwork to draw the attention of the viewer. This cover artwork is what will represent your comic and will be displayed on the Comics main page and all throughout the Comics galleries. It would be really good if your image was something that looked good at a small size of 75 x 75 pixels because this is the size it will most often be displayed at throughout the Comics section. It would also be good if your cover art was in color, even if the pages within your comic are black and white. If you didn't draw any cover artwork for your comic, I suggest taking a small part of a cool page in your comic and cropping in on it, and then if possible coloring it if it isn't already colored.

Understanding the Comic system's Hierarchy

Here's where things can get a little confusing. In order to properly relate all of the pages of the comic together correclty, we have adopted a structure similar to those used in actual print comics. You have a Comic series and that series is split up into Story Arcs or Chapters. Then each arc contains a series of pages. Here's a more visual explanation of the hierarchy:

Comic Line

  • Story Arc 1
    • Page 1
    • Page 2
    • Page 3
  • Story Arc 2
    • Page 1
    • Page 2
    • Page 3
  • Story Arc 3
    • Page 1
    • Page 2
    • Page 3

It's important to understand how the hierarchy works so that you don't get confused during the submission process.

Starting the Submission process

Go to PaperDemon.com, click your icon in the upper right, click on Submit/Manage submissions, then under Comics click New Comic line.

On this page type the name of your comic series and fill out the rest of the information. Hit submit and then you will be taken to the gallery selection page. Select the proper galleries and hit Submit.

You should be taken to a page with a list of actions. One of which is to manage your comic. Click the Manage this comic button. On this page you can control all of your settings for your comic line and add new arcs and pages.

Before you can add pages, you need to create an arc. Click the Add Arc button and title your new arc. Also locate the image file for the first page of your comic. Hit submit and you'll have your first comic page! Please note that your comic is not live. No one can see your comic until you publish it. You can do this now by clicking on the publish link if you are ready. Or you can continue adding pages and wait until you are finished uploading to publish it. You can continue to post pages after it has been published as well.

To add another page, go to PaperDemon.com, click your icon in the upper right, click Submit/Manage submissions, under Comics click Manage/add pages, click Manage/add pages next to the comic line you want to add to.

When should I create a new arc?

It is up to you how you use the arcs. But we recommend switching to a new arc when the story has come to a new beat or a new plot line. You could also just have one arc and put all pages in it.

If you want to change the order of the pages in one of your arcs, just click on the reorder link next to the arc you wish to organize. If you want to change the order of the arcs. Click on the link at the top titled Reorder Story Arcs.

And that's it! Don't forget to publish your comic!
